We M/s Sriram Institute of Marine Studies, New Delhi are approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India to carry out the recruitment and plaement activities at our campus in New Delhi vide License No Mum-255 in June 2013. The institute has ship owners as principals overseas. These principal are proudly placeing our passed out students on board the owned vessels. The institute has pride as to be the Maritime Training Centre and also a service provider.

We have been conducting Pre Sea courses and STCW -95 modular courses and basic Training in oil and Chemical tanker cargo Operation, Medical First courses since 2005. Institute has large premises and lies in a 40,000 Sq yard building and basement. All facilities like classrooms, laboratories, parade ground, sports ground and swimming pool etc. are built in house that adds the charms in our classrooms & practical training.

The institute and our RPSL managers are dedicated and hard working to take care of all assignments. In addition to above, all teachers are excellent and light house of knowledge, who directs our trainees & students to be a good seafarer.

OBJECTIVES :

The objectives of our recruitment and placement of seafarer license :
a. To provide on board training to all our pass out cadets and ratings.
b. To attract foreign & Indian ship owners by removing any middle man to select or collect our trainees to man their vessels.
c. Being a RPSL Company, the institute shall be as an agency to share industry placements at small or large scale.
d. To meet the DG Shipping requirement as mention DGS order 04/2013.

COMPANY POLICY

M/s Sriram Institute of Marine Studies or its any employee does not charge any fees from any seafarers for caring out placement in any form. The services are rendered to the seafarers as per the MS act 2005 and orders of DG Shipping, Govt. of India.
Charging any amount by any officer, worker or other person or such intension or involved in such cases shall be dealt as per the Govt. rules including termination of his service.

MISSION STATEMENT

We are endeavoring to provide training and onboard placements to our passed out Cadets and Ratings. We will continue improve our training, training standards, facilities and the trainers as per the requirement of shipping industry and the directives of the Indian Maritime Administrations.

Documented Policy – Seafarers Employment

We M/s Sriram Institute of Marine Studies would have the recruitment and placement of seafarer license to place on board our Deck Cadets & Pre Sea GP Rating courses. The institute shall exercise following procedures to provide employment.

a. The Institute shall exercise all its efforts to provide on board placements to its student by :
i. Approaching foreigner & Indian Ship owners.

ii. Plan & execute meetings to tie-up placement/ training berths.

iii. Visit some countries/ place like Singapore, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, Greece as they are the main player in industry.

iv. By providing the genuine documents like CDC, STCW-95 courses and training on Module of RPS of DG Shipping rule in classrooms for the trainees.

v. To families the Per Sea Courses participants on joining, documents and familiarization needed prior to their joining.

We Sriram Institute of Marine Studies to place any our Deck Cadet or GP Rating or our passed out cadets in the international markets so as :

a. The competitive seafarer holding valid and genuine travelling and seafarer documents will be entertained for any jobs/ placement on board our managed vessels.
b. The cast, religion, sex, color, discriminatory policy or bios policy shall not be catered anywhere for placement.
c. The suitable of candidate for a job is purely based on merits, qualification, experience, behavior and attitude.
d. No medical unfit seafarer at any how means, source, pressure or recommendation shall be placed on board.
e. The institute shall follow collection & selection as per the laid down procedures of this institute.
f. All check list by the concerned personal shall be examined and signed prior to forward the higher authority for their approvals.
g. Only the complete application shall be entertained.

TRAINING FACILITIES

Well equipped classrooms, Laboratories, workshops etc. with well experienced teaching staff who are the assets of our institute. The classrooms are equipped with projectors and associated fittings. Also the classrooms have models, photos and ACs are installed for summers. The labs also well equipped as per the norms and directives of the DG Shipping and University. The trainees are able to meet the course objectives on completion of their courses. These cadets and GP Ratings are able to carry out welding, cutting, carpentry, small electrical and plumbing repairs. The cadets are given special training on steering simulators, chart work and

Special Capabilities :

Conduct the All India Entrance Test of Best (DG Shipping) and Indian Maritime University, Chennai. The institute has superiority over institutes in Northern India. We have achieved a lot in a small span of time as compared to other sister institutes.

EMPLOYMENT POLICY

1. We M/s Sriram Institute of Marine Studies are to carry out the employment to our passed out Cadets & Ratings. We carry out the employment purely on merits. The color, cast, sex, religion, minority, Nationality are not dealt in any case. 2. Will be ensured by the institute that repatriates the standards. Seafarers his maintenance and transportation of mortal remains of an expired seafarers made in agreement between us and the Ship owners as the case may be. 3. The institute shall ensure that all rights of seafarers are duly protected and are in a valid contract of employment with ship owners. 4. In case of any incident, accident or death, the NOKs, DG Shipping Office, Seaman Employment Office shall be informed within 48 hrs of such as per the formats of Govt. of India (Form – 5).

SPECIAL ENHANCEMENT

1. DRUG POLICY

The company has a zero tolerance policy on alcohol and drug abuse on board. Any form of drug with the exception of prescribed drugs, is totally banned from Company managed vessels. Personnel on prescribed drugs must declare this fact to the Master upon joining the vessel, or upon prescription if prescribed during the period of service onboard. The misuse of legitimate drugs or the use, possession, distribution or sale of illicit or un prescribed controlled drugs ashore or onboard ship or by shore staff or crew members on leave is prohibited. The company will not authorize the employment of any persons who use drugs excessively and have a record of illegal use of drugs or have abused the use drugs excessively and have a record of illegal use of drugs or have abused the use of prescribed drugs. Any crew member found in contravention of the company’s drug policy will be dismissed immediately and handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution. All seafarers are cautioned that possession illegal drugs can result in the Death Penalty.

2. P & I Insurance of Death and Personal Injury

It is necessary for a Master and his senior officer to have a good idea of what his P & I club’s rules state on the insurance cover for personal injury, illness and loss of life. However, the very best way that a Master can help the ship’s owner is to ensure that he does all in his power to prevent injury and illness on board his ship. This work is closely connected with the company’s policy of Safety Management and is also closely related to the implementation of the International Safety Management Code.

3. Liability for personal Injury :

Any person injured on your ship – crew, stevedores pilots or passengers, for example – may allege that your ship was unsafe. The injured person could decide to sue the ship and her owners and demand huge sums of money as compensation.

Motivate your crew :

Motivate your crew to make sure ship is a safe place.

Keep it ship – shape :

Always make sure that gangways, walk ways and all areas where crew, visitors or stevedores must work or pass are free of obstructions, such as chains, cables and ropes. Clean up oil or other slippery substances immediately. Keep all places of work, including the accommodation and food areas, clean and ship – shape.

Give medical help :

If an accident does happen, ensure that the injured person receives proper medical attention.

Report and log it :

Make sure all accidents are reported to you and that as entry, accurately recording the details of the accident, is entered in the log book.

Keep unidentified people away :

Unidentified personnel should not be allowed on board at any time unless accompanied by a designated crew member. Ensure that the ship’s security plan is complied with at all times.
